This is a gallery of Original Postcard Art done by the teenagers of ODA in Cambodia.

In Cambodia there is a rich traditon of sculpting and painting mythical creatures in and around temples. Often they are the vehicles of the gods, like the famous Garuda, mount of Vishnu, or gods themselves like th monkey god Hanuman. Then there are the seven-headed Naga serpents and the Kinarees, half woman, half bird.

For our second project I took the kids to see the bas reliefs of Angkor Wat and draw the mythical creatures. Although the temple is just a 5 minute drive from their home they rarely go inside. It was an exciting adventure for them, but once we got there they all settled down to draw with incredible focus. The results a subtle and lovely.
